Where do I object? There are few enough simplex channels as it is and not a single usable 2m repeater near me that is not full of brain dead and drunken morons playing music, swearing and trying to key each other out.
Oh I had better stop before I mention a certain somebody and his misses and get in to trouble again;0)

On visiting the UK last year, it took me a while to familiarize myself with the newer repeater channels, as I grew up in England knowing only channels R0 thru' R9 and the simplex channels S15 thru' S23, if I remember correctly. Had some wonderful ragchews on the simplex channels in the late 1970's with a few watts and a 5 element beam from a fairly high elevation in Worcestershire.
2M FM just ain't what it used to be.
Where can you get a good ragchew these days? Like AA7EE I used to have a lot of fun in the early 80s on 2M FM and SSB, but there's not much going on now. 40 and 20, which are the only two reasonably reliable HF bands I can use from my London QTH, seem to be full of cookie-cutter QSOs, and don't get me started on digital modes. I don't want to read no macros!
